Honma considers the role of the golf club from a comprehensive perspective: while we are a club manufacturer, we have also developed the next-generation shaft series known as ARMRQ, seeking to find the perfect combination of shaft and club head. The result of this work is the BERES line, which features five different categories broken down by head speed, offering optimal head-shaft combinations designed to maximize the potential of each individual golfer.
The new ARMRQ shaft, wrapped in ultra finely-textured carbon fiber, has more rigidity to the shaft and therefore a greater flexure response. The design reduces deformation of the shaft when the golfer swings, enabling accurate, square impact. The energy produced by the flexure of the shaft is then conveyed to the head to yield astonishing carry. Big-and-accurate flexure gives the ball the kind of Acceleration you've always wanted A vast array of tests at Honma has shown that raising the stack angle of the diagonal-direction carbon fiber from 45° to 60° hugely improves flexure. And a greater degree of flexure-which means the shaft snaps sharply back into place-boosts tempo for the ball.
Tests on shaft crushing reveal a maximum of 33% more rigidity over previous models. The design minimizes energy-wasting deformation that can occur on the upswing, and the shaft regains its original shape with greater accuracy. "In the sport of golf, players play against nature, against their competitors, and against themselves. In order to prevail against the many challenges we face, we professional tournament golfers inevitably demand a great deal from our clubs. It's simply not enough that my carry outdoes that of my competitors, and that the club gives me the precision I need to hit the ball where I want to. It's also imperative that the shaft properly conveys my intentions to the club head, and that means I expect a lot on my shaft." Honma Golf Professional Player
